Department of Economics

The Department of Economics is started at general level in June 1956 and at special level in June 1960 as well as PG course is started in June 1961. The department has a great tradition. The department is known for eminent Economists like Prof. Dr. V. S. Patankar, Dr. Kumudini C. Deshpande, Prof. R. S. Oak and Prof. M. V. Pradhan as well as the great contribution made by Prof. B. K. Chhajed, Prof. S. N. Sawant, Prof. D. Y. Jadhav and Prof. A. A. Borse respectively. Dr. Mohan Pawara, Dr. Smt. Purnima Wankhede and Dr. Jitendra Talware are working as a full-time faculty in the department. The department faculty has completed Minor Research Projects which is funded by UGC.

The department organizes various activities for the faculties such as National and International seminars, conferences and workshops. The department takes initiatives for the students to engage industry visit, bank visit, and interactive sessions with share brokers. The department also organizes presentations for the PG students. Every year the department organizes Guest lecture for the students.

The best practices of the department are involving all the students to discuss on Central Government Budget as well as interactive session on new issues which is related to Economics. The department has arranged certificate course for the students. Most of the department students participate in activities such as cultural, NSS, NCC and sports which are organized by the college.
